What is hand therapy ?

Hand Therapy is the term commonly used for rehabilitation of the upper limb – which includes the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. Problems to these areas may be due to injury, disease or as a result of a disorder.

The term “therapy” consists of specific assessment and the development of individualised treatment plans with the goal of maximising hand function.

The therapists at Melbourne Hand Therapy have advanced skills in assessing, diagnosing and treating such pathological conditions of the upper limb. Each therapist is registered either as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist, with post-graduate education and extensive clinical experience in this speciality area.
