Jennifer Mathias graduated as an Occupational Therapist (OT) from LaTrobe University in 1992. Her initial experience was in the area of physical rehabilitation, prior to specialising in hand therapy. Jennifer completed a Post-graduate Diploma in Hand Therapy and Upper Limb Rehabilitation (with distinction), through Curtin University, Perth.

She was granted a scholarship towards further study within the area of hand therapy. Jennifer is an accredited OT and a full member of the Australian Hand Therapy Association and the Australian Association of Occupational Therapists.

She has trained graduate and postgraduate OTs and Hand Therapists, and also lectured to General Practitioners. She has undertaken research in the treatment of joint contractures and has been involved in a drug trial for the treatment of Dupuytren's contracture. In addition, Jennifer has published papers in medical journals.
